Abstract

GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF THE CZARNORZECZE ANTICLINE, NEAR ORZECHÓWKA, AND PROSPECTING POSSIBILITIES IN THE AREA

Summary
As a result of a detailed geological survey carried on during 1948-1954, a geological map of the Czarnorzecze anticline, near Orzechówka, stratigraphical profile and numerous cross-sections were made. In the course of work, the age of conglomerates of Babice type in the Czarnorzecze sandstones (Palaeocene), of fucoid marls and sandstones of the Sucha Góra (Campian-Maestrichtian), of Godula variegated schists (Cenomanian-Santonian) and of arenaceous series of the Lgota beds (Albian) was determined on the basis of macro- and microfauna, there.
In the tectonics of the region in question two secondary foldings appear, i.e. the southern anticline and the northern anticline, the course of which has been interpreted farther to the south-east by a diapir of Lower Cretaceous age. The sandstones of the Lower Cretaceous are potential reservoir rocks for oil and gas deposits, what was proved by the oil contents in these beds in two external points of the region (mines Las and Słotwina).
