Abstract

ON CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FORMATION OF BROWN COAL DEPOSITS AND THE TECTONICS OF SUBSTRATUM Summary In the article the author discusses connexion between the brown coal deposit formation and the vertical, lowering movements of substratum. Results of the analysis of this connexion are that occurrence of brown coal deposits being of industrial importance should be expected within areas tectonically strongly disturbed, since, for a long period of time, there was in such areas a greater probability of synchronizing the velocity of lowering processes of substratum with the velocity of plant substance accumulation. Connexions between the main tectonic elements and the distribution of brown coal deposits in Poland is shown on the map attached to the paper.
