Abstract

BASAL MEASUREMENTS MADE BY MEANS OF THE LA COURA BMZ-MAGNETOMETERS IN POLAND Summary In this paper the author shortly discusses the history of measurement works conducted in Poland by means of the BMZ-magnetometers. He gives the characteristics of 42-BMZ and 43-BMZ magnetometers, presents methods of field works, as well as methods concerning the reduction of the field measurements. On the basis of analysis of material having been measured, one has estimated that for works conducted by the author during 1956, the average error of results amounts ±2,9 gamma, the value of reduction errors inclusive. As a result of measurements made by means of the La Coura BMZ magnetometers, there exist to-day in Poland a net of 470 base points. Data obtained during measurements allow to elaborate equally the existing materials from measuring the Z vertical component of the earth's magnetism for construction of magnetic map of Poland. Moreover, materials collected in one period make possible an elaboration of a formula for the normal field of the Z component for the area of Poland as well as they give basis for discussion on problems concerning the changes of age.
