Abstract
GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF THE MOGILNO-SYNCLINORIUM
Summary
The Mogilno-Synclinorium presents a part of the vast Łódź-Mogilno-Szczecin-Synclinorium. That is an area characteristic of the halokinetic and gradual type of tectonics. From the typical diapirs occurring in the deepest northeastern part of trough (Mogillno, Damasławek, Wapno), we cross the area in the southwestern direction, through the passive Janowiec anticline, towards the pillow type anticlines existing in the region of Rogoźno and Trzemżal (Fig. 2). Both the Klecko and the Strzelno anticlines are, however, not exactly examined till present. The most intensive movements of these structures probably took place during the Keuper and the Lias and, at a less degree, also during the Dogger. On the diapir structures the strong movements took also place at the turn of Malm and Lower Cretaceous (Damasławek, Mogilno).
Within the large sedimentary basin formed in the foreland area of the Milddleuropean Hercynides on the one hand, and of the Easteuropean Platform, on the other, the Permian and the Mesozoic sediments have deposited. The Mogilno-Synclinorium occurs rather in the middle part of this basin. The Zechstein deposits encountered in a few bore-holes within the salt structures, represent here all the cyclothems from the Verra to the Aller, inclusive. The Triassic deposits are, however, relatively insufficiently recognized up to now, and the Jurassic deposits, in turn, are known considerably better. Almost all the Jurassic stages are represented in the synclinorium and the Jurassic deposits in the near-anticlinorium zone are as thick as 2500 metres.
The youngest Cretaceous deposits of Mesozoic age are represented by sediments of Infravalanginian, Valangian, Hauterivian, Albian as well as by all stages of the Upper Cretaceous, to the Maestrichtian inclusive.
The paper is a comparison of the results of investigations carried out by the author during 1952-1961, as well as of the works known from the literature.
