Abstract

THE MALM DEVELOPMENT IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE PERIBALTIC SYNECLISE IN THE LIGHT OF NEW DRILLINGS

Summary
Within the south portion of the Peribaltic Syneclise the Malm deposits occur conformably on the Callovian ones; these are, however, overlain unconformably by arenaceous sediments of Middle Cretaceous age. In the axial part of south-western portion of the syneclise, In the direction of the marginal zone of the East-European Platform, the Malm deposits comprise at Pasłęk all the members, inclusive of lower part of middle Bononian, occurring in the silt-marly development. Towards the periferies of the syneclise the Middle Cretaceous deposits overlay older and older series of Malm.
A line marking out axis of the greatest Malm thickness runs almost concordantly with course of the Peribaltic Syneclise axis existing in Triassic; that is the Pasłęk-Majakowskaja line having the NE-SW trend and pluging towards SW.
It seems during analyse of the individual stages that the basin axis underwent some displacement. In Oxfordian its course was conformable to the Pasłęk-Majakowskaja line, however, in the Rauracian and Astartian it moved gradually taking the south-east direction, to change its trend again in Kimmeridgian for north-west one.
