Abstract


RAW MATERIALS RESOURCES OF THE CZĘSTOCHOWA REGION

Summary
Useful raw materials occurring in the Częstochowa region are connected with following stratigraphic formations:
Devonian – dolomites; Keuper – brick-clays and limestones; Rhaetian and Lias – small deposits of fire-clays, quartz gravels and brown coals; Dogger – ferruginous clays; Malm – detrital and reef limestones, marly limestones; Tertiary – small karst deposits of moulding sands; Quaternary – secondary deposits of gravels, sands and peats.
The above mentioned raw materials are utilized in chemical, ceramic, cement and lime industry, as well as in metallurgy too.
For the very nice landscape of the Cracow-Częstochowa Jurassic area, it is necessary – the author believes – to elaborate the perspective economical plan with taking into consideration the mineral resources, as well as the relisc of nature in particular in the Sokole Góry, Złoty Potok and Berkowa Góra areas.
