BRINE SPRINGS AND GEOLOGY OF THE KOŁOBRZEG REGION IN THE LIGHT OF ALEXANDER HUMBOLDT'S WORKS
Summary
The resolution of the Polish Government carried in 1959, concerning the rebuilding of Kołobrzeg as an important seaport and well known European health-resort, has increased the interest in geological problems of this region too.
In relation to this and with regard to the not long ago celebrated Humboldt’s Year within the festivities of UNESCO, author describes the course and results of the research works on the brine springs in the Kołobrzeg region, carried out at the end of XVIII century by famous scientist and erudite Alexander von Humboldt, and briefly analyses these results from viewpoint of to-day’s knowledge of geology of this region.
