Abstract

A SHORT HISTORICAL ILLUSTRATION OF THE MAGNESITE AND NICKEL PROSPECTIONS WITHIN THE SERPENTYNITE MASSIF AT GOGOŁÓW-JORDANÓW

Summary
The course of previous geological works carried out within the serpentinite massif at Gogołów-Jordanów near Świdnica are presented.
A special stress was laid on the history of geological prospecting works, which have led to the discovering of the new nickel and magnesite deposits within these areas.
Prospections for above mentioned raw materials have been carried out during the post-war time. The discovery of a big magnesite deposit was a success of these prospections. The deposit occurs in a shape of small veins, from several milimetres to some centimetres thick, so called "magnesite net", as well as n form of several metre thick veins. Magnesite having an average transformation degree, occurs within the serpentinite near the contact zones and dislocations.
Of the nearest contact rocks the amphibolites, gabbros and granites are mentioned.
