Abstract

APPLICATION OF SURFACE RADIOMETRY IN THE POLISH OIL INDUSTRY Summary The first attempts to use the surface radiometry in Poland, for exploration of on and gas deposits, were begun in 1957. In 1957-1960, the investigations were made in the area of known Carpathian deposits, in the Polish Lowland region and on the larger scale, in the Carpathian foreland area too. Because of a very great lithological differentiation of the near-surface sediments, the positive results have not been obtained there. In 1960, a method of so-called "relative activities" has been elaborated; this method allowed to eliminate the existing superficial influences. The first attempts to use this method have given the positive results that allow to discover gas and oil deposits and tectonic dislocations. Besides the method of relative activities, mentioned above, the following investigations are still being planned, viz.: aeroradiometric and spectrometric measurements and these of intensity of the natural alfa radiation as well.
