BROWN COAL AND POSSIBILITIES OF THE OPEN-CUT MINING DEVELOPMENT Summary The paper gives a short outline of the brown coal mining history in the Ziemie Zachodnie area, its possibilities of development in Poland, the previous contribution of the geological survey to the enlargement of the brown coal mining, as well as a general characteristics as regards the main coal districts in Poland.
