Abstract
GEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF NEW BUILDING MATERIALS CARRIED OUT IN THE ROZTOCZE (SE POLAND) II
Summary
Tha paper gives the occurrence of cement raw materials in the vicinity of Płazów and the results of investigations of Tertiary limestones of Middle Roztocze (Table III, figs. 3, 4).
On the basis of detailed chemical characteristics of these limestones three main facies were distinguished:
I – pure limestones of CaO content over 52%
II – sandy limestones of CaO content 49-52%
III – sandy limestones of SiO2 content over 10%
On the base of technological investigations of the Józefów deposits it was stated that limestones are good for production of lime and for production of crushed shingle also as a building stone.
A project of industrialisation of Roztocze from the point of view of cement industry limestone and building stone. Two cement plants are projected in the vicinity of Płazów and Frampol, which would work on Tertiary limestones and Krakowiec clays. There are some possibilities for development of limestone industry in the vicinity of Józefów, Frampol, Zakików and partly of Brusno.
A comparison was made of Tertiary limestones of Roztocze and of similar Soviet limestones also light limestones Jurrasic and Cretaceous of other regions of Poland (Tab. VI). The problem of nature preservation in Roztocze with particular specification of all established reservates. A project of new areas designed for as health resorts was made. There will be no new industrial enterprises within these areas.
