SOME ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF CAVE PRESERVATION

Summary
In recent years several new caverns were discovered in Poland. Total number of up to date known caves reaches 900. New corridors and halls were discovered in these caves. The greatest caves are situated in Tatra Mts. The Zimna cave is 4 km long and Śnieżna cave 300 m deep. Caves of Poland are interesting area of geological investigations. Severl interesting research works were done concerning origin of the Tatra caves, karst region origin of incrustations and recent tectonics.
In result of exploitation especially in Święty Krzyż Mts and Sudeten many caves with deposits of Pleistocene mammals were destroyed. Due to extensive tourist activities several damages were caused in the caves of national parks.
