Abstract

SLIDE SPIRAL BALLS FROM SOBKÓW (ŚW KRZYŻ MTS) Summary Preservation or transposition to the rock collection of Museum of Earth of large spiral balls formed by slumping from Sobków quarry near Kielce (Święty Krzyż Mts) is proposed. They are built of oolite-pelitic limestones and are of Upper Astartian age. The spiral balls are more or less fusiform of 1 m in diameter and 2 m long. They were formed contemporaneously during submarine slide in such a mode resembling rolling of carpet of making a snowball during rolling of snowman.
