Abstract


OCCURRENCE SITES OF QUATERNARY MAMMALS IN POLAND

Summary
A short stratigraphical review of up to date known occurrence sites of Quaternary mammals of Poland is given. Occurrence sites of Upper Pliocene fauna is deal at first. This was a starting point for evolutional changes of fauna in Pleistocene period. This fauna was found at three sites in Poland namely: Węże, Podlesice and Rębielice Królewskie differing in facies. Fauna from Węże is the most interesting because it comprises numerous reptiles and large mammals.
Two faunas of small mammals are known form the oldest interglacial deposits these are from Kadzielnia in Kielce and from Kamyk. Among rodents Microtinae are predominant with closed roots. In Kamyk Allophaiomys pliocaenicus Kormos appears with continuously growing teeth.
