Abstract

THE STRATIGRAPHY OF THE LOWER JURASSIC IN THE NORTHERN PART OF CRACOW-CZĘSTOCHOWA JURA CHAIN Summary The construction of a new stratigraphic division of Lower Jurassic in the described region was based on the palaeobotanical research of a set of samples from the vicinity of Częstochowa, and the investigations of a profile of Lias in Miechów. The geological profiles from Gorzów Śląski and Osiny were compaired. Lias striata was confirmed to be thicker than it was considered before. Some stratigraphic horizons are determined: in the Lower Lias – Połomskie Layers; in the Middle Lias – silt layers and sub-coal layers; in the Upper Lias – Blanowickie Layers, Esteria Layers and Łysieckie Layers.
