IRON ORE DEPOSITS IN THE CZĘSTOCHOWA AREA

Summary
The sedimentary iron ores are the most important in Poland. They are considered to be the main resources for mining industry. Clay ironstones from the Częstochowa Area should be mentioned, above all. Deposits of clay ironstones are connected there with the ferriferous Middle Jurassic Strata. Strata ranging from Rhaetic till Malm are developed in the Częstochowa Area. They build the SW-slope of Łódź-Miechów synclinorium. The Middle Jurassic Strata are covered with limestones of Upper Jurassic. The limestones from the distinct morphological chain of hills: the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura Chain. The detailed description of iron ores occurrences in different formations as well as the exploitation data ares cited.
