Abstract

USEFULNESS OF THE DOMESTIC BENTONITE CLAYS, FIRE-CLAYS AND NON-TIPICAL CLAYS FOR THE METALLURGIC INDUSTRY

Summary
The results of two years research works for domestic bentonite clays useful in the metallurgic industry are presented.
In the introduction to the paper the superiority of the synthetic moulding masses against the natural ones is discussed.
There bas been made a division of the clays into bentonite, kaolinite and illite clays and the general characteristics discussed. As the criterion of quality of the investigated clays a squeezing resistance of masses in the wet state bas been taken in to account.
The bentonites and bentonite clays from Chmielnik and Górki near Pinczów, the fire-clays from the Opoczno and Jaroszów areas as well as non-typical clays and Subcarpathian clay-slates have been investigated. The conclusions and remarks concerning the clays for metallurgical purposes are given.
