Abstract

REMARKS ABOUT INFLUENCE OF THE BASEMENT HYDROGEOLOGICAL FEATURES ON DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSITION ZONE IN THE REWAL AREA

Summary
The Rewal area (Western Pomerania) is very interesting from geomorphological and geological point of view. It is Pleistocene upland, from south framed with deep marginal valley, from east it contacts with the Liwia Łuża spit but from north its margin forms an active cliff (Fig. 1). Result of basement investigations were presented as several maps (Figs. 2 — 4), where deposit features were marked with their filtration coefficients. Some connections between hydrogeologie attributes of basement and morphology of sea border were discussed (Fig. 5). Some opinions were confirmed that exists direct influence of periodically effluenting from cliff underground waters on slump processes and resulting withdrawal of backshore margin. Independently of it shaping of shore zone cross-section is modified by hydrogeological character of deposits, consisting the bottom basement of nearshore zone. It is visible in western part of studied area where sandy bed with tense water level was placed under thin layer of imperemeable soils or it occures just at bottom surface. Activity of shore protection in the Rewal region concentrates on elaboration of an idea of dewatering of broad backshore belt, framing cliff and proper spatial management of Pleistocene upland.
