Abstract

METHODOLOGY OF DOCUMENTATION WORKS ON THE SUBMARINE NATURAL ROW-MINERAL DEPOSIT S IN POLISH PART OF BALTIC SEA

Summary
During last twenty years the Marine Geology Division of the National Geological Survey of Poland has found some natural row-mineral deposits in Polish part of Baltic Sea. The resource documentations were done for deposits in Słupska Shoal and Koszalin Bay region and similar one for Southern Middle Shoal will be just finished. Some balance criteria for Baltic natural row-mineral deposits. and documentation methodology were elaborated. First Polish submarine row-mineral resources of "Koszalin Bay deposit" were sanctioned in 1989. Two phases of documentation works are accepted: preliminary and detail prospections. During first one the seismoacoustic profiles and echosounding are carried along 1.5 km separated lines, forming a square net. The 6.0 m long cores are drilled in the net nodes and later studied for indexing analysis. The results of laboratory data and field profile descriptions allow to depict preliminary resource boundaries. During next detail prospection the seismoacoustic profiling is made in a packed net within initially marked resource fields with separating distance of 0.5-0.7 km between net lines and new cores are taken in the net nodes. Later no less than one 25.0 m long drill is done in deposit field. The complete laboratory analysis are made from joined samples from all deposit seam, found in the positive cores. As further step the tentative exploition in the deposit field is initiated and all sample material is analyzied in semi technical scale. During marine cruises due to free diving and subaqueous television system are carried observations of lithology, bottom sediment dynamics and boulder occurrence. The ships are located with needed precision of ± 5.0 m. After these criuse observations, laboratory and technological studies the results are compiled and the resource documentation is prepared according instructions and operative balance criteria.
