Abstract

SOME GEOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF THE CENOZOIC DEPOSITS FROM POMERANIA Summary The Cenozoic series from Pomerania are composed mainly of Tertiary sandy deposits, the Paleogene part mostly marine in origin. The great thickness and full development they have in Szczecin Depression, thinning toward north and east. The Quaternary sequence consists of 3 glacial and 2 interglacial stages, the younger last one with marine deposits. The Quaternary cover origined mainly as result of glacial accumulation processes. These deposits are glacitectonically disturbed and contain many detached blocks, generated due to exaration in the vast final depressions of the glacial lobes. The abrasion of transgressing Littorina Sea was the intensive process in last 6 k.a. of Holocene.
