Abstract

TRACE ELEMENTS STUDIES FROM SALT AND CHEMICAL DEPOSITS Summary Some geochemical studies of Zechstein and Miocene evaporites as well as of barite deposits were done in 1986-1990. Trace elements data completed geochemical characteristic of studied profiles. Rock salts with higher content of some microelements are used in food industry but potassium •salts with higher content of Br, B, Rb, and Cs are utilized in chemist industry. Other• types of sulfate-chloride potassium salts were used in agriculture as fertilizers for meadows and pastures. Strontium content in sulfate rocks is important indicator of environment salinity. It is very usefull for detail stratigraphic studies. Its content in some samples is over 1% and these concentrations could have industI1t1 value in future. Barite investigations pointed occurrence of associated and trace elements and compared their content in two deposits from the Lower Silesia area.
