Abstract

BASEMENT OF THE QUATERNARY DEPOSITS NEAR RYKI AND DĘBLIN

Summary
The Lower Paleocene, Lower Oligocene, Lower and Middle Miocene and Pliocene deposits form the Quaternary basement near Ryki and Dęblin. Their age were defined according palynological data. The Paleocene and Oligocene deposits occur in Wisła and Wieprz valley at the base of the Quaternary but the Miocene and Pliocene series are found mainly on postglacial upland area. Top surface of the Paleocene and Oligocene is inclined north-eastward and has variable morphology due to erosional processes. The Pliocene deposits near Ryki are strongly glacitectonically disturbed. Such detail geological- palynological studies of the Quaternary basement were the first of such kind on this area. They precised age of basement deposits, their spatial distribution and mineral composition.
