Abstract

PRECIPITATIONS AS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR INFLUENCING CHEMISTRY OF GROUNDWATERS

Summary
In the present paper a short review of research on the effects of pollutants emitted to the atmosphere and their influence on the quality of groundwater has been made. As revealed by analysis of data over the period of ten years the mineral load in precipitation can contribute scores of percent to the total ion concentration in the fresh waters in the Podhale Basin and in the Tatra Mountains. It was found that without recognition of the processes at the atmosphere - lithosphere boundary, transition from passive to active protection of groundwater can not be performed.
