QUANTITATIVE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE PORE SPACE OF SOII - AN EXAMPLE OF GLACILIMNIC CLAYS FROM THE JASTRZĘBIA GÓRA CLIFF
Summary
The paper presents the results of quantitative analysis of pore space of clay soil (glacilacustrine clays from Jastrzębia Gora), using the microcomputer system SEM Hitachi S-800 (Fig. 1,4). The microstructural elements of pore space (number of pores, porosity, total pore area, total pore perimetr, average diameter, average area, average perimetr, specific area) are determined (Tab. 1,2, Fig. 2). The distribution of the morphological types of pores (Tab. 2, Fig. 3, 5) and orientation of microstructural elements of pore space (Fig. 6) are presented. The results of investigation allow to make proper estimation of the physical and mechanical properties of clay soil.
