Abstract

GEOPHYSICS AND GEOECOLOGY Summary The paper provides a structural analysis of ecological situation in the Ukraine with special emphasis on comprehensive range of geophysical methods as applied to the study of endogeneolis and exogeneous processes as well as to addressing problems connected with the aftermath of a breakdown at the Chernobyl nuclear power station. Issues of seismic situation in the Ukraine, its evaluation and assessment for conorete sites where nuclear power stations are operating, are considered. New data are made available concerning the study of tectonosphere on the basis of magneto-telluric sounding. The authors substantiate the necessity of further work being conducted to provide more precise and accurate assessment of seismic situation on sites of operating nuclear power stations and other ecologically dangerous objects.
