DEPOSITS, GENESIS AND EVOLUTION OF THE GARBAŚ LAKE
Summary
This paper presents geological and hydrological characteristic of typical groove lake in the Suwałki Lakeland. Evolution of the Garbaś lake started in the Allerød from shallow basin developed on dead ice. Extend of this paleobasin was wider than now. Maximal extend of the Garbaś basin is shown by subfossil lacustrine carbonate sediments: lacustrine chalk and lacustrine gyttja. Recent sediments of profundaI zone are carbonate sediments with some inorganic silicates. On the base of chemical and phisical analyses of lake water is posible to say that the Garbaś lake is dymictic and β-mesotrophic lake.
