Abstract

BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE UPPER BUNTSANDSTEIN – ROETH AND MUSCHE1KALK IN SW POLAND Summary At the boundary between Upper Buntsandstein/Roeth and Lower Muschelkalk occurrs often the bed composed of crinoids of genus Dadocrinus Meyer, 1847. Crinoids are unknown from the Roeth deposits on studied area. Mentioned bed was distinguished as I Crinoid Bed. Its bottom marks the beginning of the Lower Muschelkalk. Microfaunal horizons, described from the Roeth and Lower Muschelkalk deposits and correlated with this boundary indicate that microfaunal assemblage of the Roeth often passes this I Crinoid Bed (Fig. 2) but similar assemblage of the Lower Muschelkalk always occurs in studied boreholes over that bed. Palynological studies (miospores and megaspores) just began on this area and their results could not explain up till now the relations between positions of spore assemblages and discussed crinoid bed.
