Abstract

GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE AND PERSPECTIVES OF EXPLOITATION OF "LEGNICA" AND " ŚCINAWA" BROWN COAL DEPOSITS Summary The geological structure of Legnica and Ścinawa brown coal deposits is briefly discussed and quality characteristics of brown coals and accompanying raw materials are given. There are also discussed some problems connected with planned mining of the Legnica brown coal deposits as well as those connected with construction of post-flotation reservoirs for the Lubin-Głogów Copper Basin. Attention is paid also to the necessity of use of huge amounts of raw materials accompanying brown coals in the deposit as well as a more appropriate use of brown coals exploited as fuel for planned power plant. The question of influence of construction of mine, post-flotation reservoirs and power plant on natural environment is also discussed.
