Abstract

SOME REMARKS ON PETROGRAPHY OF THE OLDEST ROCK SALT IN THE LUBIN-GŁOGÓW COPPER BASIN

Summary
In the course of research works carried out in the Fore-Sudetic Monocline, attention was paid to rock salts and their quality. Rock salt deposit is of the stratibound type, stretching NW-SE, i.e. parellel to the Fore-Sudetic Ridge, and dipping at a low angle. Its thickness is highly variable, ranging from a few meters on SW to about 200 m on NE, and its lower and upper surfaces are highly differentiated in morphology.
For main types of salt rock were differentiated in the stratigraphic column of the oldest rock salt. Petrographic characteristics of these rock salt types are given. Attention is paid to the stratigraphic importance of these differentiations and there is given a typical stratigraphic column of the Z1 stage with subdivision of the oldest rock salt horizon (Fig.).
