Abstract

WERRA CYCLOTHEM ROCKS FROM WESTERN PART OF THE SUDETIC BASIN AND SOUTHERN ŻARY PERICLINE

Summary
The lithostratigraphic subdivision of rocks of the Werra cyclothem, penetrated by the boreholes Czerwona Wola IG-1, Kościelna Wieś IG-1 and Lutol IG-1, was made on the basis of borehole and petrographic data and the existing literature. The following litostratigraphic horizons are differentiated: Weissliegends (P1), Basal Limestone (W1α), Kaczawa Marls (M1), Marly Limestones (W1ß), Dolomitic Limestones (D1) and Anhydrites (A1), emphasizing their regional differentiation. The extent of sedimentation of Werra deposits is shown, with a special attention paid to the nature of sedimentary environment of marly, calcareous and anhydrite deposits. Two regions differing in development of Werra deposits differentiated taking into account the depth of the Zechstein sea from these times include: oxidated zone with predominance of calcareous-anhydrite sedimentation (southern part of the Żary pericline) and reducing zone with predominance of sedimentation of marly deposits (western part of the North-Sudetic Basin). Mineralization is shown to be related to a definite reducing facies of sedimentary environment and differentiated in the horizontal and vertical directions. Structural-textural features of sulfides and traces of secondary migration of mineral matter are discussed. The recorded distribution of sulfide minerals appears typical of areas distant from the rote Fäule zone.
