Abstract
AN ATTEMPT OF LABORATORY MODELLING OF OBLIQUE BEDDING OF THE TABULAR TYPE
Summary
The paper deals with semiquantitative experimental studies carried out by the authors within the framework of student research in the Geology Student Scientific Circle attached to the Geological-Prospecting Faculty of the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Cracow. The experiment was realized in the Sedimentary Laboratory attached to the Department of General Geology and Mathematical Geology of the Institute of Geology and Mineral Raw Materials of the Academy. It represented a minor part of research project of current depositional structures modelling, at present realized in the above mentioned Laboratory by Eng. K. Pasierbowicz, M.Sc., scientific curator of the Sedimentological Section of the Scientific Circle.
The results obtained by the authors make it possible to explain some regularities in formation of various types of oblique bedding depending on granulation of sedimentary material and hydrodynamical characteristics of the sedimentary environment. A brief description of the used apparatuses and the method of carrying out the experiment may serve as a current information on modelling works carried out in the Institute of Geology and Mineral Raw Materials of the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy.
