PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF PETROGRAPHIC STUDIES ON THE MIDDLE AND UPPER DEVONIAN CARBONATE ROCKS OF THE KRAKÓW-TARNÓW AREA
Summary
The authors carried out mineralogical-petrographic studies on Middle and Upper Devonian carbonates penetrated by drillings in the Cracow-Tarnów area. The studies comprised macro- and microscopic observations as well as chemical, thermal, X-ray and infrared spectrometric analyses. They showed that the rocks are limestone-dolomitic. Mutual distribution of these rocks in particular sections is highly irregular, changing in both horizontal and vertical direction.
