Abstract

HYDROGEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PORE SPACE OF THE LOWER CARBONIFEROUS CZATKOWICE LIMESTONES AND DOLOMITES (SW POLAND)

Summary

Results of laboratory investigation of hydrogeological properties of pore space of carboniferous limestones and dolomites of Czatkowice region are discussed. Average interconnected porosity of limestones and dolomites to 0,021 and 0,029, respectively. Average hydraulic conductivity egals to 4,51 x 10-11 m/s and 9,46 x 10-11 m/s respectively and average specific yield to 0,00087 and 0,0046 respectively. It is observed that porosity tends to increase when the Ca/Mg ratio is decreasing, while permeability and drainability increase with increasing porosity. The obtained results are essential for the problems related to propagation of pollutants in rocks.
