Abstract

NEPTUNIAN DYKES OF BONARKA - A TESTIMONY OF THE LATE CRETACEOUS TECTONIC MOVEMENTS IN THE CRACOW UPLAND - DISCUSION

Summary
The thesis of the discussed contribution about santonian synsedimentary age of the fault tectonics is not proved. There are no changes in thickeness of santonian deposits. The only proof - the drawing of the flexure cited by Wieczorek et al. is in contradiction with the sketch of the same flexure of the other author. Both drawings contain false solutions of the space compensation during folding and were done exclusively as an example of transition of a fault into a flexure. Deformed senonian marls possess tectonic mesostructers typical for brittle tectonics, excluding synsedimentary faulting. The marls filling fissures do not show lamination expected in case of deposition in cracks of sea bottom. So the infillings do not represent real neptunian dykes. They are clastic dykes or injections from above, which as well could take place in Tertiary.
