Badania mikrostruktury bursztynów bałtyckich o różnym stopniu przezroczystości
Abstract
MICROSTRUCTURAL STUDIES OF BALTIC AMBERS DIFFERING IN TRANSPARENCY Summary Electronic microscope pictures of fresh breaks of Baltic ambers of different transparency have been compared using the replica method. Numerous characteristic structures were found. After warming up to 120-140°C, most of those structures disappear and the amber is taking on a regular form. The studies did not confirm earlier statements that the degree of transparency is reversely proportional to pore diameter in the amber mass (table no. 1). The canals (links) between the characteristic elements (pores) had not been found too, although macroscopic observations and the literature data suggest that such links should appear.Downloads
