Abstract
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF JOINT IN MESOZOIC ROCKS OF THE BEŁCHATÓW AREA
Summary
The paper presents a general characteristics of joint in Mesozoic rocks of the Bełchatów area (Fig. 1). A network of catetal and inclined joint fractures was traced (Fig. 2). Orthogonal system of NW-SE and NE-SW oriented catetal fractures is of extensional origin whereas systems of inclined fractures are of shear origin. Manifestation of catetal fractures is limited to subsurface zone of rock massif, evidencing their young age. Frequency of joint fractures (Figs. 3-4) and number of blocks per 1 m3 (Fig. 5) were analysed as parameters of disintegration of rock massif.
