Poszukiwanie i dokumentowanie materiałów budowlanych w dorzeczu Wisły
Abstract
SEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION OF BUILDING MATERIAL DEPOSITS IN THE VISTULA RIVER CATCHMENT AREA Summary The demand for natural aggregates for works connected with the Wisła Programme is estimated at about 200,000,000 t. That amount is almost four times greater than the current exploitation of natural aggregates for concrete production by the building industry. The tasks is further complicated by the lack of any large natural aggregate deposits in the proximity of the Vistula River valley. This makes it necessary to begin intense search and documentation works. Such works should be carried out consistently with programmes elaborated for each of the voivodeships by the Geological Institute (the preparation of the programmes is in progress and all the voivodeships should have them by the end of 1980). Further isdispensable steps include management of natural aggregate regions delineated by the Geological Institute. This should be accompanied by intensification of search in order to increase raw material basis for production of artifical aggregates. The search should, first of all, cover the occurrences of sandstone in the Carpathians as the organization of regions of exploitation of these rocks is still unsatisfactory. The other perspective area of occurrence of materials for production of artificial aggregates is that of the Holy Cross Mts. At present a new region of exploitation of limestones and dolomites is being designed in the vicinities of Iwaniska and Opatów by the Geological Institute. In that region, several large works producing artificial aggregates are planned. A marked attention is paid not only to large exploitation regions but also to the search and exploitation of small aggregate deposits situated close to the designed water cascades and reservoirs.Downloads
