Abstract

NEOTECTONIC ASPECTS OF THE EAST SUDETEN FOREIAND RELIEF

Summary
A colour hypsometric map was constructed for better recognition of the surface of the eastern part of the Sudety Mts foreland. The map was constructed on the base of topographic maps 1 : 100 000 in scale. The map shows that regional glacial marginal forms of glaciation reflects are unrecognizable but strongly reflect structural features of the bedrock. For more distinct regional view of the surface a concentrated contour map was applied. Very distinct parallel zones are visible on this map: the Sudety Mts with very condensed contours; the zone of the foreland depressions with rare contours; the zone of the foreland with condensed picture of contours, the zone of the farther foreland with lower density of contours and the zone of the Odra River valley. Smaller geomorphologic units are visible on the whole investigated area. Rectilinear boundaries and rectangular or rhombic outlines suggest their neotectonic origin. The morphotectonic units are also visible on the areas where the Cainozoic unconsolidated sedimentary cover is comparatively thick.
