Abstract

THE PALEOTECTONICS OF PLATFORM COVER IN THE WIELKOPOLSKA REGION Summary On the basis of several hundred borehole columns (Fig. 1), maps of mean rate of subsidence in individual epochs and periods were compiled for the Wielkopolska area. The analysis showed that the development of sedimentary cover of the epi-Variscan platform has been determined by vertical movements of deep-seated blocks of the basement of the Permian. In this region, fault system has been founded in the Late Variscan epoch or earlier and it was undergoing repeated rejuvenation in all the phases of the Alpine synorogeny (Figs. 2, 4-8). The Poznań - Kalisz and Poznań - Oleśnica dislocation systems appear to be related to deep basement as they bear essential influence on distribution of thickness and facies of Permo-Mesozoic and Cenozoic deposits. The Poznań - Kalisz dislocation coincides in outline with the Poznań - Rzeszów lineament (15), and the Poznan - Oleśnica with the Koszalin - Nysa lineament (9).
