Abstract

TWO CALICHE HORIZONS IN MIOCENE DEPOSITS AT PRZEGORZAŁY IN KRAKÓW Summary The new outcrop of Miocene carbonate deposits is described. This outcrop was located in western part of Cracow, and is no longer accessible. Jurassic limestone forms a basal part of section. Its bored, rough upper surface resembles humped rocky bottom shore. Miocene limestones with oyster shells onlapped this surface. There were two horizons of caliche in this section. The lower was situated on the top of the Jurassic limestone, the upper is developed on the top of oyster limestone. This section documents that conditions favourable to caliche.
