Abstract
OUTLINE OF OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION PROBLEMS IN POLAND Summary In the territory of Poland, three oil and gas bearing provinces are distinguished: the Flysch Carpathians, the Carpathian Foredeep and the Polish Lowlands (Figs. 14).Of the whole country area equal to 312,677 km2, prospective areas for new oil and gas discoveries cover 257,000 km2 , that is 82,5%. In the three petroleum provinces, 70 oil fields and 180 gas fields were discovered. Natural gas and crude oil are produced in fields situated in the Carpathian and Forecarpathian regions (high methane gas) and Polish Lowland (gas containing nitrogen). 85 fields and about 1100 wells are operated including 40 high methane gas fields (630 wells) and 45 fields of gas containing nitrogen (380 wells). Nowaday - 45 oil fields are operating and oil is produced in 2300 wells, of which 2250 are located in Carpathian or Carpathian Foredeep, and 50 in the Polish Lowland. The paper deals also with prospective formations for oil and gas exploration in Poland (Fig. 3). In the end is informations on concession and first and second licencing round area (Fig. 5).Downloads
