Abstract

CELLULAR DOLOMITES IN HIGH-TATRIC TRIASSIC IN THE POLISH TATRA MTS Summary In the one of high-tatric series exposures in the Gładkie-pass chute, cellular dolomite sequence is visible. This sequence rests on clayey-detrital deposits and is covered by thick dolomite complex. Petrographical investigations, thermal analyses and X-ray diffractoscopy showed the presence of minerals characteristic of evaporatic environment. The deposit structures show that its origin was connected with early-diagenetic dolomitization in loose sediment. Formation of the high-tatric cellular dolomites is a net result of three major processes: solution of older dolomite deposits in nearshore area, flow of the high-Mg, dolomitic solution to deeper parts of basin, and change of sulfide minerals into dolomite in sea floor sediments.
