Abstract

ON CONDITIONS OF OCCURRENCE OF DOLOMITES IN THE DEVONIAN OF THE RADOM-LUBLIN REGION Summary The drillings made in the Radom-Lublin area (Fig. 1) showed the presence of dolomites in Devonian sections. In continental deposits of the Zwoleń Formation of the Lower Devonian (Figs. 2, 3). dolomites are represented by nodules in claystones. Dolomites are fairly common in sections of the Telatyń Formation (Middle Devonian) in south-eastern part of the studied area, where they are accompanied by clastic terrigenous rocks and anhydrites (Figs. 2, 3). In the remaining parts, Middle Devonian section mainly displays epi- and late-diagenetic dolomites and terrigenous and carbonate rocks (Figs. 2, 3). In the Frasnian, epigenetic dolomites predominate (Figs. 2, 3), e.g. in the Werbkowice Member, where they are developed as fine-crystalline cavernous ones. In the Famennian, dolomites are known from south-eastern part of the studied area (Hulcze Formation), where they are represented by early-diagenetic ones, formed in lagoons at the end of Devonian sedimentary cycle.
