Abstract

THE METHOD OF ESTIMATION OF LOADING CAPACITY AND DEFORMABILITY OF FOUNDATION ROCKS ON THE BASIS OF BOREHOLE SURVEYS Summary The authors proposed a method of estimating admissible unit loadings and deformability modulus for fractured rock massif on the basis of measurements of spacing of fractures and strength properties of rocks, taken with the use of hydraulic well penetrometer in drillings. The method was elaborated with the use of the W. Weibull's theory of structural defects and empirical dependence of susceptibility coefficient (Eom/Eos) on spacing of fractures. The proposed method increases accuracy of estimations of foundation rock in comparison with the hitherto used normative premises. It should be noted that costly and time-consuming digging up of shafts for direct survey of fractures as well as cutting out rock samples for laboratory strength tests are eliminated in this method.
