Abstract

GEOLOGICAL MAPPING OF ESCARPMENTS IN OPENCAST MINE ON THE BASIS OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY Summary The methods of decoding geological content of surface photogrametric images for the needs of geological mapping of opencast mine escarpments are discussed. Geological interpretation of such photograms, is carried out with reference to a set of diagnostic features, the most important of which include texture of photographic image, shape, form and structural-sedimentary elements of sediments forming blanket of the exploited deposit. The knowledge of spectral characteristics of individual lithological types and varieties of soils is also important as it makes possible appropriate selection of photographic materials, type of filters and conditions and techniques of taking photos.
