Abstract

PRELIMINARY SURVEY OF FRACTURE TECTONICS IN THE CENTRAL COAL REGION OF THE LUBLIN COAL BASIN Summary The paper presents observations and measurements of fractures in core material from several selected boreholes in the Cyców area and horizontal works of the piloting-exploitational mine "Bogdanka". The studies showed weakly marked decrease in density of fractures along with depth as well as local increases in some depth intervals. Structural weakening of rock massif by fractures was found to be rather small. Fracture pattern is simple and generally two conjugate sets of fractures are recorded. Their directions are 51-232° and 134-316° in coals and 30-215° and 134-303° in siltstones, and mean dip values - over 80° and 60°, respectively. Directions of fractures appear close to those of faults.
