ESTIMATION OF VELOCITY FIELD
Summary
Distribution of velocities may be established with the use of computer when first arrival times, obtained from seismic surveys carried out in following situations: borehole - borehole, borehole - surface, gallery - gallery etc., are available. This problem has been presented for the time in papers by P. Bois and others. On the basis of these papers and the results of studies by the authors, algorithms and programmes RAY I and RAY II were constructed. The algorithms and programmes appeared usable in processing measurement data from works aimed at tracing inhomogeneities in geological structure of coal layers in mines as well as in delineation of areas suitable for mining works.
