Abstract

PRELIMINARY DATA ON TECTONICS OF THE PERMO-MESOZOIC IN THE LUBLIN COAL BASIN IN THE LIGHT OF PHOTOINTERPRETATION

Summary
The use of air and satellite photos made possible fairly quick preparation of map of photolineaments in the Lublin Coal Basin region. Analysis of geophysical and borehole data showed that the majority of photolineaments reflect tectonic lines in Cretaceous rocks.
Areas of very high activity of karst processes are, at the same time, the zones of markedly effected by tectonic movements. The connection of increased density of photolineaments and degree of complications in Paleozoic basement is also very clear. There is growing evidence for origin of the network of faults and fractures in Permo- Mesozoic cover due to movements of Paleozoic basement blocks. It seems that the areas of especially high density of photolineaments represent potential zones of recent crustal movements. In mining works, such zones should be regarded as of increased water and gas hazard.
