Abstract
SOME METHODS OF PROGNOSTIC ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF PRESUMABLY PERSPECTIVE COPPER-BEARING FORMATIONS
Summary
In Poland, perspective resources of all the deposits occurring in formations with established perspectives, i.e. in complexes with known deposits of economic value, were estimated (Przegląd Geol., no. 3 and 6, 1979). At present, attention is mainly paid to estimation of perspective resources in formations regarded as perspective. The paper presents selected methods of prognostic analysis and estimation of copper-bearing potential in presumably perspective formational-structural zones on the example of some countries, especially the USSR, wherefrom areas with similar geological structure and the recorded deposits of economic value are known.
The methods of estimation of perspectives on the basis of geochemical mapping and studies on environment of trace elements, geological-geochemical analysis and analysis of copper-bearing formations in sedimentary and sedimentary-volcanic series and volcanogenic structures are discussed. Subsequently, metallogenic analysis and estimation of perspectives on the basis of concentration and specialization premises are presented. Final part of the paper deals with the possibilities of use of statistical methods and probability theory as well as combined methods in prognostic works on copper ore deposits.
