THE NEOGENE-QUATERNARY BOUNDARY IN THE LIGHT OF PALEONTOLOGICAL DATA
Summary
The paper presents selected problems connected with delineation of the Neogene-Quaternary boundary with the use of paleontological methods. Major criteria used for that purpose are discussed. The boundary is nowadays drawn at the base of rocks of the Santernian Stage, cropping out at Vrica, southern ltaly, and it is dated at about 2 m.y. BP.
